What is BOTOX®?

BOTOX® involves a series of targeted injections that relax the muscles where their activity causes lines and wrinkles. The result is smoother, younger looking skin. BOTOX® is a registered trademark of Allergan.

How does BOTOX work?

Muscles contract when they are given electrical messages to move transmitted by a substance called acetylcholine. These repeated contractions can cause lines and wrinkles. BOTOX® Botulinum Toxin Type A blocks the release of acetylcholine so the muscle doesn't receive the message to contract. Once the muscles are unable to contract, the skin becomes smoother. BOTOX® is considered to be one of the safest and most widely researched cosmetic products available today, when administered under medical supervision What are the side effects of BOTOX® treatments? BOTOX® injections are very well tolerated and have very few side effects. Patients may experience a mild headache after the treatment though this condition is rare. How do I know I’m being treated with “real” Botox®? We purchase Botox® from Allergan who is the sole provider of authentic Botox®. In Hungary it is called Vistabel.

What results are expected after botox treatment?

BOTOX® can be used to combat crow’s feet, frown and forehead line. A series of tiny injections are administered directly into the area and effects are experienced after approximately 24-48 hours and for a period of 3-6 months. Some patients have shown results up to 8 months. The effects vary depending on individual circumstances such as age, skin and area being treated. (The full effects may take 1-2 weeks to develop).

Does the botox treatment hurt?

The treatment can cause some minor discomfort, but since the needle is so fine this is usually minimal. The treatment is very quick and involves a minor sting for only a few seconds. Some redness may also appear on the treated area, but that will disappear in an hour.

How long does the Botox treatment take?

An initial consultation may take up to 15 minutes, then 15-30 minutes for the treatment itself, depending on the area to be treated.
